3Scapes lives on more than one server. Drop into our Discord for chat, bug reports and announcements, or catch up on longer discussions over on the forums. 3Scapes also shares its codebase and history with an older sibling MUD, 3Kingdoms, still going strong after all these years.
vote for 3scapes
3Scapes is listed on Mudconnect, one of the biggest directories mudders use to find their next game, and a daily vote there is one of the cheapest ways to help newcomers stumble across us. Cast one at tinyurl.com/tmc-3s — it takes a few seconds and costs nothing but a click.
the rules, in short
- Treat other players and staff decently — harassment, threats and abusive language toward the community aren't tolerated.
- Found a bug? Report it instead of exploiting it, even quietly; using it to your advantage counts as abuse too.
- Don't pass along quest knowledge, hand over quest items, or otherwise carry someone else through a quest you've already finished.
- One human, one character logged in at a time — sharing a login or controlling characters someone else created isn't allowed.
- Client scripting is mostly welcome — triggers and aliases are fine. What's banned is a script that plays the character for you, and the test is simple: if commands keep arriving when nobody's sitting there, that's botting.
- Scripts whose only job is to stop you idling out are banned separately, and judged more leniently. Either offence climbs a fixed ladder that starts at a warning and ends with losing your guild place — gxp and all — or, for botting, a wipe.
- Leaving triggers running unattended? Set up a deadman's trigger — it halts your character the moment you stop answering. Staff do allow slack when checking — a single missed tell settles nothing — but tells aren't the only method they use.
- Register with a real, working email address, since an account without one can be wiped without warning.
That's the gist. The complete, current wording lives in the help files: rules, botting and punishment — the same text the game serves, and also readable in-game with help rules.
keeping the lights on
3Scapes is, and always will be, free to play — nothing on the game is locked behind payment. What keeps the servers running is players opting to chip in a Voluntary Access Fee; see ~/vaf for what that means and how it works.
