  Greetings, everyone!

A lot of development is happening behind the scenes right now, and we
want to give you a look at what is on the horizon. None of this has a
release date yet - everything below is actively being built and tested,
and things may change before they go live. But this is where our
  energy is going:

  GENERATIONS - A NEW ENDGAME
  ---------------------------
The big one. Generations is a long-term, high-end system for players
who have reached the top and want somewhere new to grow. Reach the
requirements, be reborn at the altar, and start your next Generation
  carrying new powers with you.

Each Generation earns you a point to spend across three power trees,
each with its own playstyle and mini-game:

    * Words - utter words of unmaking: ciphers, sigils, and raw power.
    * Escalate - a push-your-luck channeling engine. Ride it higher for
bigger payoffs, or lose it all when it collapses.
    * Reflexes - read the enemy's telegraphed attacks and counter them
with the right reaction at the right moment.

Generations also brings WORLD EVENTS to the mud: dungeons that spawn
all over the world, appear for a limited time, and then vanish. Running
them earns tokens that feed directly into your Generation advancement -
so keep your eyes open, because the next one could open up anywhere.

Powering it all is Essence, a new per-Generation resource, and standing
at the end of it all are the PRIMORDIALS: a new tier of boss designed
around these mechanics. They telegraph, feint, curse, ward, and claim
deaths - and they will punish anyone trying to script their way
through. This is content meant to be learned, not steamrolled.

Generations is in active testing now and will keep growing over a long
  arc of updates.

  POSITIONING - TACTICAL PARTIES
  ------------------------------
Party play is getting a new dimension. Positioning is a new party
feature currently being fleshed out that will let where you stand in
the group matter - creating real roles and real decisions in group
combat. More details as the design firms up.

  DUAL-WIELD COMES TO THE GUILDS
  ------------------------------
The general dual-wield / parry / riposte skill chain is in the game
today - if you haven't found the trainers yet, rumor says a certain
swordmaster in Tokyo knows something about fighting with two blades.

The next step is adapting dual-wielding into the guilds where it makes
sense thematically - the Gentechs, the Vikings, and possibly others -
so guild fighters can weave it into their own combat identity rather
than just using the general skills.

  A NEW GUILD
  -----------
Yes, a brand new guild is under development. We are not spoiling it
yet, but it plays like nothing else on the mud, and it is much further
along than you might expect. Watch this space.

  HYPERION - A HIGH-END RAID AREA
  -------------------------------
Hyperion Station: on paper, a corporate refinery and logistics station.
Under the surface, something else entirely. Hyperion is a new top-tier
raid area built differently from anything else in the game: limited
runs per week, launched as missions with your chosen crew, with far
more interactivity than a normal area - objectives from rival traders,
hostile station systems, hidden routes, and constant decisions about
when to push deeper and when to extract with what you've salvaged.
The risk is higher, and so are the rewards - and your runs tie into
the Generations economy, so they matter to your long-term progression.

UNDER THE HOOD - DRIVER IMPROVEMENTS
  ------------------------------------
For the wizards (and indirectly, everyone): the game driver itself is
getting new features and optimizations. This includes remote
compilation support - letting coders compile-check their files from
their own tools without touching the live game - plus a series of
interpreter performance improvements. Faster driver, smoother mud,
and better tools mean content gets built and fixed faster.
  ---

That's the roadmap. As always: no dates, no promises on final shapes,
but plenty to look forward to. If you have thoughts or feedback on any
of these, post them or find us on chat - especially you high-end
players, since a lot of this is aimed squarely at you.

  See you in the game!
