Hey everyone, We've got some exciting news to share as part of our ongoing commitment to modernizing and future-proofing the mud. After careful consideration and many long minutes of research, we've decided to transition our backend infrastructure to a token-based model. This move aligns us with emerging industry standards and will provide a more scalable and sustainable approach to gameplay interactions. What does this mean? Every command you type will now consume a token. The more complex the command, the more tokens it will cost. (Don't worry - look will remain free for now, unless you're looking too often.) Players will receive a daily allotment of free tokens (subject to change based on alignment, charisma, and whether we like your character name). A token marketplace is in the works where players can trade, earn, or stake tokens based on in-game achievements or out-of-game flattery. Premium token bundles may become available in the future for those who wish to optimize their experience. But that's not all. To reduce the burden on our overworked codebase and to finally take a well-deserved nap, we're proud to announce that we are migrating the driver to run entirely on ChatGPT. Commands will now be interpreted through a cutting-edge LLM interface. NPCs will be significantly more chatty and existentially aware. Quest logic will adapt in real-time based on your tone, grammar, and emotional commitment. Typos may now result in unexpected poetic sidequests. We're confident that this evolution will usher in a new era of immersive, AI-enhanced, tokenized mudding. Please be patient with us as we finalize integration and iron out minor quirks like memory drift, spontaneous NPC rebellions, and the occasional soliloquy from the town blacksmith. The future is now.
