heading: Using a Screen Reader
SYNTAX: setmod READER
If a player has impaired vision and uses a screen reader,
they may notify the mud of this by 'setmod READER 1'. This
setting may be used in various places to avoid presenting
information in graphical format or cued by color.
If you are using a reader, and encounter something that
appears to be graphical or depending on color, please
report it with 'idea' and we'll look into making a screen-
reader-friendly version.
Players using screen readers may also be interested in:
1) 'alias gl glance exits' -- have your glance include
exit names in full
2) using the 'brief' command to turn off the compass rose
or minimap. Also avoiding getting the cartography skill,
as it works with the minimap.
3) while ANSI colors may not be useful, you can insert
plain text to be read where the color would appear, for
example 'setcolor look_player_pref Player:'.
